Dr. Rani H. Srivastava is the Dean, School of Nursing at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC. Prior to assuming this position in 2020, Rani was the Chief of Nursing and Professional Practice at CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health) since 2010. In this role, she oversaw the Professional Practice Office, which includes professional practice, quality and safety, ethics and client relations. She also holds the position of Adjunct Professor at York University in Toronto, and Dalhousie University in Halifax. She also held the position of Assistant Professor at the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto. Dr. Srivastava began at CAMH in 2003. During her tenure, she led numerous initiatives that have driven improvements in patient care and advanced nursing in mental health. She co-led the implementation of CAMH's transformational I-CARE project, an initiative that supported better care through technology and helped CAMH attain leadership status in electronic health care solutions. Rani also led the successful designation of CAMH as an RNAO Best Practice Spotlight Organization, enabling CAMH to improve mental health nursing practice, and simultaneously share expertise across the system. A powerful advocate for academic nursing, Rani has supported research in nursing and building this capacity within the mental health system. Most notably, Rani recruited the first nurse to the CAMH/University of Toronto Chair in Mental Health Nursing Research. Dr. Srivastava's contributions to diversity and inclusion in health care are many. She is recognized as an industry leader in the area of diversity and cultural competence education, and has been writing, teaching and implementing best practice and training initiatives within CAMH and across the system since her early days. Dr. Srivastava is a member of the executive committee for Academy of Chief Executive Nurses (ACEN) and serves on the board of Aurat Health Services, a non-profit agency dedicated to empowering South Asian women through education and community support. She regularly serves as a consultant, speaker, and workshop facilitator for a variety of audiences.
