Author Information

Owen V. Johnson draws inspiration from his personal life experience, his passion for the amazing splendor of the Charleston, South Carolina Lowcountry landscape, and the wonder of childhood curiosity. Owen grew up mowing lawns on weekends as his father's helper for extra money for the family. After college and a few unfulfilling corporate jobs, he returned to his roots, and founded a landscape maintenance company. Owen often noticed and enjoyed the truly exuberant and playful reactions of children when they saw him passing by on that big yellow lawn mower. He would spin the machine and wave back at the children as they laughed with excitement. It was the highlight of his workday. Those interactions combined with his desire to pass on the valuable lessons of hard work learned from his father and his love of writing and reading aloud for his own son and daughter when they were young, ignited his desire to create children's books.
