Overview"Miraculously regaining his ability to speak, think, and write after a debilitating stroke, the author presents a uniquely life-affirming series of funny and/or poignant anecdotes characterized by their humble yet self confident messages. His words-gained by accessing the ""spare, unused brain cells"" that weren't damaged-are a bright ray of hope served up as warmhearted humor and sprinkled with some modestly offered advice." I worked as a mechanic at Boeing, various airlines, and at a truck manufacturing company. I have always enjoyed telling stories about what is going on in my life and listening to others. After I retired, I had a stroke and lost most of my ability to speak and my memory. I could speak using only three-letter words. I was evaluated and was told by my therapist that I could relearn and could recover if I tried. Humans have spare, unused brain cells. That sounded plausible. I visited a Toastmaster Club and thought that might help me. That was fifteen years ago. I can give a good speech now, and I have entered many speech contests. Then, I joined two writing classes. One meets at the Couth Buzzard bookstore (started by Marilyn Stauter); the other one at the Greenwood Senior Center is run by Ariele Huff. I write stories about my life, the neighborhood, and the black crows that live around my yard. I feed them, of course. I write about car problems, breakdowns and repair shop difficulties. I write about my granddaughter. After 88 years, I have some stories to share. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
