OverviewThis is a story that centers around the trials and challenges of an adolescent boy named Edison Hagan who resides in Redington, Alabama, a relatively small town. He is not the most handsome young man, wears fairly thick glasses, has quirky hair, and has an overly aggressive, off-beat personality that often causes him to be on the outside of social circles; rejected by the mainstream 8th grade population. Honestly, Eddie has no one to call a friend; unless you count his caring, older sister, Faith, who is a high school senior. The boy has been bullied since grade school, and the social abuse seems to grow as the years pass. His parents worry about him and even saw a counselor for advice as to how to help their son to fit in socially. Just as they experience a disastrous playdate attempting to try and connect Ed with another lost soul, the Hagans get great news. Eddie has a date. Mom and dad had merely hoped for their lonely son to somehow make a good friend. Hearing that he has a date with a girl has the whole family head over heels excited for Edison. But what seems to be a huge blessing leads to the most unexpected result. The troubles of Eddie's past quickly fade as he faces the most traumatic, disturbing experience of his already tumultuous life. He had adjusted to fearing anxiousness, nerves, awkwardness, and even embarrassment. But he never considered death.
