OverviewDuring the 1980's a number of high quality, large scale pile tests, sponsored by the offshore industry, Department of Energy and EEC, were performed at onshore locations in clays similar to those encountered in installations in the North Sea. At the same time research was being carried out to instrument and monitor the piled foundation beneath one leg of the BP Magnus platform in order to determine the actual loads imposed on the piles and seabed by the structural and environmental forces. The data from this research was released to the public domain for the first time at a conference in June 1992. This unique volume brings together the findings and discussions resulting from this research and is a valuable addition to the information available on offshore piling.
