Overview

Anna Bowles is a British humanitarian volunteer who has made six visits to Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022. In Landscape With Mines, her first poetry pamphlet, she draws the reader into the immediacy and struggle of daily life under existential threat, for those resisting the invasion or merely hoping to survive it. These poems are vivid, dramatic, aware and compassionate witness to pain and courage under extreme circumstances.

Author Information

Anna Bowles was born in Cheltenham and educated at Oxford University before becoming a children's book editor. These days she freelances online and divides her time between London and Ukraine, where she supports and documents grassroots resistance to the Russian invasion. She began writing poetry as part of this work and has been published in numerous magazines. Her blog can be found at annabowles.substack.com
