Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationMiakpo Emiaso was called to the Nigerian bar in 1989 and has been extensively involved in litigation practice at all levels of court in Nigeria including the Supreme Court. Since January 2004, he has presided over an Area Customary Court which court has exclusive jurisdiction for possession matters in Delta State. He holds a Masters Degree in Law from the Lagos State University and a Diploma in Journalism from the prestigious Nigerian Institute of Journalism where he was the President of the Students Union Government from 1979 to 1980. Miakpo Emiaso has worked with the Nigerian Observer as a Senior Reporter covering the National Assembly in the second republic before joining the New Nigerian Newspapers as a Senior Sub-editor. He also served as West African Correspondent for Seatrade Magazine published in the United Kingdom. He has been a lecturer in law with the Times Journalism Institute in Lagos and Law Examiner/Assessor with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) for two decades. He is a member of the Nigerian Society of International Law and the Washington-based Nigerian Studies Association and is the author of the best selling Law, Practice and Procedure: Area Customary Courts in Nigeria (2010), Co-operative Societies Law and Practice in Nigeria (2011) and co-author of Banking Laws and Regulations in Nigeria (2006).
