Reviews

Written by well-known and respected Land Rover man, Maurice Thurman, author of the 'Essential Buyer's Guide' series, this book is now in it's second edition. It's wording is complemented by colour pictures and offers practical 'how to' advice. It aims to fill the gap between the vehicle handbook and the workshop manual, which it does pretty successfully.- Classic Land Rover. A compact yet comprehensive troubleshooting guide to the Series I, II and III Land Rovers, this book is a handy glovebox companion. It covers common problems from engine noises to suspension issues.- Practical Classics. Series Land Rovers are unlike other cars - in fact they are unlike other Land Rovers - and ranking high among their unique attributes is an inherent ability to come up with new ways of going wrong. It doesn't necessarily mean they will not get you home, but it often involves a baffling new noise from somewhere under the bonnet, or an intermittent fault that refuses to put in an appearance when you out an expert mechanic on the case. You might smile and see these niggling problems as part of the joy of Series ownership. Ir you may tear your hair out in frustration. Either way, this little book could prove handy, as author Maurice Thurman describes most of the common faults on Series Land Rovers and explains what causes them and, more crucially, how to put them right. It is just they right size to keep in your Land Rover for when you need it ... and therefore worth the investment. - Land Rover Monthly.

Author Information

Maurice Thurman has been hooked on Series Land Rovers ever since, as a schoolboy, he watched them picking their way through dense woodland in an off-road trial. He has since been driving them, on and off-road, in various parts of the world for over 25 years. As a retired teacher, he believes that knowledge gained from experience should be passed on. Maurice runs a website dedicated to Series Land Rovers, and writes books that are intended to be of benefit to dedicated Land Rover owners.
