Overview

The theme of this year's LA Poetry Beach Festival was 'I Never Could Talk To You, ' a line from Sylvia Plath's poem, Daddy. It's the first time that we commemorated a female poet. In the two earlier events, we commemorated Kenneth Patchen with 'Get Ready To Die' in 2021 and Charles Bukowski with 'Some People Never Go Crazy' in 2022. The 3rd LA Poetry Beach Festival was the hardest one of all. I invested more time and money than ever in this six-day, coast to coast poetry festival that I first gave America in 2021, to celebrate my 50th birthday. This year, a fake NY Times reporter ran off with my money, and I had to cancel in April the Poetry Cab as I couldn't register my old NYC yellow cab that I just turned into a Poetry Cab at DMV. And then, while I was driving with a rental car from New York to Los Angeles to promote our festival during National Poetry Month, I had to drive back from Fort Madison, Iowa, after my best friend in New York had a stroke. It was life or poetry. And I chose life! LA Poetry Beach Festival combines four mini poetry festivals. - Poetry Pool Party (September 19) - Poetry Train (September 19-23) - L.A.P.D. (September 23) - LA Poetry Beach (September 24).
