OverviewThis catalogue reproduces in full color the works created in honor of the bicentennial of Garibaldi's birth and displayed at the Palazzo Cerretani in Florence in October 2007. Thirty-three artists from across Italy reinterpreted the General's red shirt, symbol of Italian liberty. The multiple and diverse interpretations vary between traditional iconography and contemporaneity, reducing at times the red shirt to its symbolic essence. The works are accompanied by texts in Italian and English by Italian writers, scholars and dignitaries.
