Overview

La Cabaña del Tío Tom, Publicada en 1851, esta novela de la autora norteamericana Harriet Beecher Stowe, trata sobre la esclavitud, la injusticia y la desigualdad entre los hombres, postura ideológica que más tarde dio origen a la famosa guerra de secesión o guerra civil entre el Norte (antiesclavista) y el Sur (esclavista), en Estados Unidos (1861-1865). La trama ocurre en el estado norteño de Kentucky, antes de ser abolida la esclavitud, el rico terrateniente Shelby, para poder pagar fuertes deudas contraídas, se ve en la dolorosa necesidad de vender y separar de su familia al más fiel de sus esclavos, el viejo tío Tom, y a Henry, un negrito de 4 años de edad.
