Overview

This two-volume work is the fruit of twenty years’ research, looking for photographic landmarks in Paris and its environs, sifting through archives and reading period regimental logs and the memoirs of Resistance members. Only the fighting of the 2nd DB is covered and the authors make no reference to political or resistance matters. Mistakes found in period literature, on commemorative tablets and plates can now be rectified thanks to the research carried out. The first volume deals with that heroic week in Paris, the bloody clashes in the southern suburbs, the“Leclercs’” entering the capital on the evening of the 24th and their first fights the following day.
