Her first book Wonderful Waiheke, with photographs by Cliff Schaeffer, was reprinted four times and i s still for sale. She has written short stories and her articles have appeared in many magazines. She's actively involved in the Waiheke community and has volunteered for the Jassy Dean Trust. Jane wrote this story primarily t o raise funds for the trust but also because she loves writing stories, inspired by her grandfather Sir James Hay, who wrote stories for his grandchildren. Gill attended Canterbury University School of Fine Arts in the 1980sand has been exhibiting widely in New Zealand and overseas for thepast 30 years. Her work is primarily oil paintings on canvas. Gill, a firstcousin of the author Jane Parlane, lives in Lyttelton where she has astudio in her home, overlooking the inner harbour. She has alongstanding involvement with a local charity supporting Canterburychildren, Cholmondeley Children's Centre. Cholmondeley providesrespite care for tamariki aged 5 -12.
