OverviewMy travels across Korea-focused mainly on Buddhist temples and Confucian academies-also led me to churches, cathedrals, and sites of martyrdom. Over more than a decade, I visited historic churches and sacred places throughout the country, tracing the lives of foreign missionaries and martyrs, appreciating the beauty of ecclesiastical architecture, and reflecting on how Christianity took root in Korean society. Engaging with these histories and encountering their remarkable buildings gradually reshaped my perspective. Religion came to appear not as doctrine, but as lived history shaped by human conviction and suffering.
