Korea National Police University (KNPU) is a national university in Yongin, South Korea founded in 1979.The logo of the Police Academy was created on the 23rd of November, 2005, in the year of the 60th anniversary of police foundation. The eagle emblem which was created under US military trusteeship(1945) suffered controversy on its identity, and was changed to the Korean eagle Cham suri , which expressed the eagle(police) stretching its wings over the Mugunghwa (nation and its citizens) while flying up towards the sky, meaning that the police will protect the nation and its citizens. Also, a laurel tree which represents the campus, was inserted to express the meaning of a sanctuary of education, with the date of its foundation 1979 .
