Author Information

Reared by a single mother, in the impoverished Johnson Projects in Harlem NY was the start of life for Dani. Growing up on welfare and at times eating oatmeal cookies for dinner, Dani felt early on that life could be cruel. Alcoholism, physical abuse and anger seemed to be the things Dani faced on a daily basis. Shuffling through the foster care system, it was at the age of 15 that Dani was reunited with mother and siblings under the same roof. Fighting anger, resentment and depression, Dani moved out of mothers home at the age of 16. At the age of 17, while attending last year of High School, Dani's mother passed away from Lupus after being diagnosed with AIDS. Dani and older sister decided to raise the younger siblings and shed them from further foster care living. At the age of 24, Dani almost became a statistic after being shot in the face at point blank range. Already dealing with anger issues, the shooting further pushed Dani to a low point in life. Bouncing back from the despairs of life, Dani made a life turnaround, joining the Law Enforcement community and decided to be a productive citizen in life. Turning the trials of life into testimonies about hope, determination, and self-belief and never giving up, Dani found a gift in motivating others to look at life from a different perspective than the one that is handed to us. Life is truly what you make it, is the model that gives Dani the courage to face tribulations and strife and turn them into victorious moments of life. Dani obtained an associate's degree in 2002, after taking a five year break in education, returned to school to obtain Bachelors of Science, Masters of Human Resource Management and Doctorate of Business Administration degrees. Dani has found passion in motivation and encouraging others. Dani has been invited to speak at local law enforcement agencies, Universities and Churches. Facing adversity as a minority, Dani lives to show others how to find inner peace in the midst of personal storms. How to find your personal passion and serve others in order to live a complete and fulfilled life.
