Overview

The Eucharist is at the heart of a life of Christian discipleship, and it is the supreme way of knowing Christ. The Eucharist also instructs and initiates us into a life of following Christ and living for God. In the Gospels the disciples recognized Jesus in the breaking of the bread . Through story, reflection and prayer, David Tomlinson explores the liturgy of the Eucharist and finds in it the basic building blocks of the Christian life. Readers are invited to reflect on the different parts of the eucharistic liturgy and their meaning for their day-to-day Christian lives. so that their faith can be deepened and they can learn to live more fully in Christ and as members of his body, the Church.

Author Information

David R. Tomlinson is the Chair of Thrive Together Birmingham and Vicar of St Paul's in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham. Previously he was Area Dean of Saffron Walden and Team Rector of the Saffron Walden and Villages Team Ministry in North West Essex within the Diocese of Chelmsford. Prior to that appointment he spent ten years as Vicar of Grays North, including five years as Area Dean of Thurnock. In over 25 years of ordained ministry he has led four major building projects and extensive change management. As both invariably generate tensions, he has a particular interest in how to lead a church though conflict and how to resolve disagreements. David is married to Jenny, who is also ordained, and they have two adult children.
