Author Information

Dr. Jennifer Daley is a textile historian and a leading authority on the collaboration of textiles, industry, and war. She earned a PhD from The Department of War Studies at King's College, London, UK, with a doctoral thesis, titled, A History of Clothing and Textiles for Sailors in the British Royal Navy, 1660-1859. Part of her doctoral investigation included researching sailors' knitting and wool aboard British Royal Navy ships during the nineteenth century. She spent two decades in the British Isles, including Fair Isle, Shetland, Scotland, the historic namesake of Fair Isle knitting. In 2005, she founded www.knittingjenny.com to celebrate creative design and colorful wool heritage.
