OverviewCatch not only a glimpse into the muddy backwater of Mississippi state and local politics, but also a sidelong glance at national figures and issues. Captain Kirk lampoons Mississippi governor Kirk Fordice, while Confederacy of Dunces satirizes Mississippi's legislature, which makes an editorial cartoonist's job easy with suspect politicians, a regressive tax system, and constant schemes to raise their own pay. Other chapters including Sports, Daze of Our Lives, and Life with Bill prove to be consistently funny and insightful.
