Reviews

The work of The Kindness Queen has had a huge impact on the lives of many children. From her inception, one could see the inner workings led by God. This book is one that is a great example of courage. Children can relate to its plot, knowing they too can, with perseverance and fortitude, overcome obstacles. Children are sure to be engaged by this whimsical book of courage! -Julie A. Hudson, school administrator Speaking as a first-grade teacher in a public school setting, it can be challenging to find appropriate resources and literature to assist with character development lessons. The Virtuous Volumes series that Diane Brown-Smith has written is engaging to young learners and strongly portrays how the bond of friendship can transcend differences. In Kitty Kitty Rescues Mr. Gator, the main character proves to be a loyal friend who overcomes his fear of the unknown. His family joins in to courageously support not only one of their own, but the unlikely friend, Mr. Gator, who is in need. -Darla Shiell, educator A tale of courage and faith, this sweet story will leave you with a smile on your face. Two friends, Mr. Gator and Kitty Kitty, make a unique pair, yet their love for this friendship shows how any two creatures, big or small, can help one another. This is the perfect story to explain courage, empathy, and perseverance. Building social and emotional skills in our children is imperative. When we have strong stories like this one, we can teach children the value of friendship, and the courage, empathy, and perseverance it can take to be a loyal friend. The Kindness Queen has outdone herself again, helping children reach their highest potential. -Amanda Sheroff, school counselor On the pages of this sweet story, you will see the main character, Kitty Kitty, make a courageous choice to come to the aid of his dear friend. As you read this book to your little loved ones, my prayer is that you will take these words to heart and always choose courage over doubt, dismay, or fear, and that you will always remember, as the Kindness Queen teaches, that you are Noblesse Oblige indeed! April R. Davis Co-pastor of Impact Church and mother of three

Author Information

The Kindness Queen came to be in the year of 2006, when an elementary schoolteacher, Diane Brown-Smith, saw the need to recognize, honor, and encourage the noblesse oblige behavior of her students. She wanted to promote the purple actions and attitudes she saw exhibited by the students and adults at her school. (Mrs. Brown-Smith had utilized noblesse oblige to honor the students in her physical education classes at various other schools since 1997.) Mrs. Brown-Smith created The Kindness Queen to be a separate persona who was said to be this teacher's cousin (wink, wink). With a British accent and in full regalia, The Kindness Queen began her benevolent reign. The Kindness Queen was soon awarding Golden Scepters to deserving students, colleagues, and volunteers who displayed kind, responsible, and generous acts. The Kindness Queen has awarded Golden Scepters in elementary schools, her community, area businesses, and a Fortune 100 financial services company. The Kindness Queen resigned her teaching position in 2013 to promote her noblesse oblige campaign on a full-time basis. In addition to authoring her Virtuous Volumes book series, the K.Q. is an ennoblement motivational speaker whose regal mission is to empower all people to see themselves as the royalty they were created to be, making a positive, purple difference in their realm of influence. The Kindness Queen encourages all to embrace their royal status with a servant's heart and make their casa, classroom, community, and corporation a part of The Kindness Kingdom. Noblesse oblige, if you please. Jeannette Dennis has enjoyed teaching in the realm of children's art for over twenty years. She thrives on inspiring children to create and is thoroughly inspired by them as well! Mrs. Dennis is also a practicing artist who loves drawing and painting
