Probably made in Japan, or perhaps South Korea, since they end their story on Jeju Island. Their story remains topical. The Japanese government has recently begun to acknowledge and support the historical Ainu culture and its impact on the Japanese Islands; an increasing feature of tourism in Hokkaido. There is an enduring debate in Japan regarding same-sex marriage.
