He played club rugby for the Royal Signals, Cambridge University, London Scottish, Leicester and Aberdeenshire, as well as his home club of Heriot's. He lives in Edinburgh. Allan Massie CBE (born 1938) is a Scottish journalist, columnist, sports writer and novelist.
