Katya's Garden

Overview

Ekaterina (Katya) Spasolomskaya is a famous Russian artist and stage designer. She is a member of the Moscow Union of Artists and the International Federation of Artists. Katya was inspired to paint by her mother, Tatiana Spasolomskaya, also a well-known Russian artist. Katya picked up a paintbrush for the first time as a little girl at her grandparents' home. Katya's grandfather was an avid gardener, and Katya's most memorable paintings were of her grandfather's garden. This story is based on Katya's childhood story, which she kindly shared with me during one of my trips to Moscow, Russia. A 10-year old Erika Aminov from Haifa, Israel, decided to try her artistic skills to bring Katya's childhood story to life during the 2020 Quarantine. Katya picked up a paintbrush, and Erika picked up a stylus pen. And now you have a chance to hold this colorful book in your hands. Erika Aminov from Haifa, Israel was 10 years old during the pandemic lockdown of 2020. Katya's Garden is the first story she has ever illustrated after trying her hand at art for the first time during the quarantine. This story is based on the childhood of Ekaterina Spasolomskaya, a Russian artist from Moscow. Ekaterina was inspired to paint while spending a lot of time in her grandparents' garden when she was a little girl. And now Erika took inspiration from Ekaterina's childhood story. Whether your children decide to try their hand as authors, illustrators, or both, encourage them to do so. And give us a shout by sending their stories and/or art to julie@cleverfoxpress.com.
