Kanye West is An American producer, rapper, and fashion designer who was born in Atlanta, Georgia but now based in the United States.He turned his producing success in the late 1990s and early 2000s into a successful and well-regarded solo career.Kanye West went to Chicago State University for one year before quitting to pursue music as a profession. He is the son of a former Black Panther and photographer and a college lecturer. Before moving to the New York City region and becoming famous for his producing work for Roc-A-Fella Records, mainly on rapper Jay-album Z's Blueprint, he first showed off his impressive production skills by contributing to Jermaine Dupri's album Life in 1472.West struggled to be given permission to release his own recordings despite his excellent usage of fast sample-based rhythms, which quickly found him in high demand as a producer partly because of the perception that his middle-class background denied him credibility as a rapper. The College Dropout, his first solo album, was finally released in 2004 and was an enormous success. Critics praisedi its sonic sophistication and deft wordplay, which combined humor, faith, insight, and political awareness on songs like Through the Wire and the gospel choir-backed Jesus Walks. In 2005, the latter song took home the Grammy for best rap song, while West also won for best rap album and best rhythm-and-blues song (as one of the authors of Alicia Keys' You Don't Know My Name ).
