KamaSutra In the literature of all countries there will be found a certain number of works treating especially of love. Everywhere the subject is dealt with differently, and from various points of view. In the present publication it is proposed to give a complete translation of what is considered the standard work on love in Sanscrit literature, and which is called the 'Vatsyayana Kama Sutra, ' or Aphorisms on Love, by Vatsyayana.The rough English translation of Kamasutra is pleasure (kama) treatise (sutra). Vatsyayana is the name of an Indian philosopher in the Vedic tradition who is believed to have lived around 2nd century AD in India. His name appears as the author of the Kama Sutra. Not to be confused with Paksilasvamin Vatsyayana, the author of Nyaya Sutra Bhashya, the first preserved commentary on Gotama's Nyaya Sutras. His name is sometimes confused with Mallanaga, the prophet of the Asuras, to whom the origin of erotic science is attributed.
