Learn more at erosettipress.com Louis Mourier (1885-1945), known professionally as Marix, was a French satirical caricaturist, libertarian illustrator, and one of the most talented yet elusive erotic artists of the interwar period. Best remembered today for his clandestine masterpiece Kama-Gita: Règles de l'Amour (c. 1930), a rare portfolio of twenty-four hand-colored erotic plates that celebrate sexual pleasure with wit, sensuality, and playful elegance.A committed pacifist and left-wing artist, Mourier co-founded the militant satirical journal La Gueule Noire and contributed to publications such as L'Humanité and Le Libertaire. During the First World War he was held in German prisoner-of-war camps, where he secretly documented camp life in drawings later published as Derrière les barbelés. In the Second World War he joined the French Resistance, forging false papers to help those persecuted by the Nazis. Arrested in 1943, he died at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp in February 1945.His only major erotic work, the Kama-Gita, remains one of the rarest and most charming examples of 1930s French clandestine erotica. Dante Remy served as editor, translator, and wrote the forward for this book. He is an internationally based writer, editor, and producer. His creative work explores the duality of nature and science, love and loss, beauty and the macabre, the chaste and the erotic. His fiction publications include the Erosetti Pillow Book Series, multiple edited art books, restored editions of classic erotica, and the novels The Mysteries and the Lover, Predator, Vampire series.
