Shailla Matlock-Karimbux was born in Kenya, East Africa and fell in love with a country brimming with immense natural beauty, wonderfully diverse people, deep cultural beliefs, and an amazing variety of wildlife. She still enjoys residing in Africa. Shailla is a teacher by profession and an artist at heart . Her first book, 'The House that Stood Still' traces the footsteps of her great grandfather, one of the earliest pioneers to settle in Kenya in 1885. Currently, she is writing and illustrating childrens' books. She hopes to inspire others by her writing and enthusiasm and urges people to visit Kenya and see for themselves the ultimate beauty it offers. Chris Matlock is a Canadian journalist residing in Kenya. He shares the same passion and enthusiasm for Kenya, and continues to be intrigued with an amazingly fascinating country. He has travelled vastly in Africa and most parts of the world. This is his first book that he has authored with his wife, Shailla.
