Kabbalah, Magic and the Great Work of Self-transformation

Overview

Magic is the art of transformation. According to Lyam Thomas Christopher, advancing to higher levels of magic requires an exalted state of conscious - a spiritual transformation. Based on Kabbalistic techniques and teachings of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Christopher presents a step-by-step program toward spiritual attainment. Beginning with the Neophyte Grade and concluding with an examination of the Adeptus Minor Grade, this course guides readers through each level of the Golden Dawn system of ritual magic. Each grade corresponds with a sphere in the Kabbalah Tree of Life and includes daily rituals, required reading, written assignments, projects and additional exercises. This modern curriculum also introduces the history of the Golden Dawn and its mythology, the Tree of Life, Deities, demons, rules for practicing magic and components of effective ritual.

Reviews

Finalist for the Coalition of Visionary Resources Award for Best Magick/Shamanism Book Kabbalah, Magic and the Great Work of Self-Transformation offers the student a fresh perspective on the process of Self-Initiation into the Western Esoteric Tradition. Readers who immerse themselves into the work provided by this text will be well on their way to the completion of the Great Work. --Chic & Tabatha Cicero Kabbalah, Magic, & the Great Work of Self-Transformation is a masterful blend of tradition and innovation. Rather than rehash the old Golden Dawn rituals, Christopher provides a curriculum that remains true to its source--the influencial Order of the Golden Dawn--while including well-tried and practical innovation for the solitary practitioner. Simultaneously lyrical and informative, this book is at once self-training guide, reference work, and handbook of practical theurgy. --Patrick Dunn, author of Post-Modern Magic. In Kabbalah, Magic, & the Great Work of Self-Transformation Christopher has taken the Golden Dawn teachings and reduced them to their bare bones essentials, presenting them in a dense, power-packed curriculum for the aspiring adept. Well known Second Order rituals are presented in a coherent and practical manner creating a well-rounded program of study that can be used for both solitary and group practice. --Mark Stavish, Director of Studies, Institute for Hermetic Studies, author of The Path of Alchemy: Energetic Healing and Natural Magic A complete initiation into the Western esoteric tradition, using the practical teachings of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn as its framework. The author shows how ritual magic is relevant to the modern world, and how it can be used for personal empowerment. Readers seeking to weave together the numerous threads of Western magic into a coherent whole that they can apply in their own lives will find all the guidance they need in this book. --Donald Tyson
