Brown, DVM, grew up on a farm in Vasselboro, Maine, and like two of his brothers, graduated from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. He joined his brother Phil's veterinary practice in Belfast, Maine, where they worked together for thirteen years, and then continued on his own for ten more, running a small-animal hospital and making hundreds of farm calls.
