Overview

Mickey Town, a loveable rogue and con artist, is asked by his brother Dave to come and help him manage the last game of the season. Mickey is a qualified football coach and enjoys a challenge, however the timing isn't right. He's being investigated for a suspected fraud at the same time trying to fit in a trip to Paris to woo his latest lady friend, a Spanish millionairess. Chester Rovers have got just one more game to save themselves from relegation and the awful fate of dropping out of the Football League for the first time in their history. So Dave needs help. He's doing a good job, but his player coach was badly injured in the last match, hence the call to brother Mickey. But where is Chairman George Livesey? Rumours have it that he's away overseas looking to find a buyer. The Chairman's own business, a renewable energy company, had committed to a lucrative wind farm project out in China. The Chinese Company he was dealing with (ZLC) wanted to get a foothold in European business, and especially British football. They'd agreed to the windfarm deal on the condition that they could buy Chester Rovers providing they were still in the Football League. Unfortunately, ZLC had dubious motives. In China it made money out of football, but not through the normal routes, they did it by fixing matches and gambling. They intended to do the same in the UK and in a desperate attempt to clinch the deal, the Rovers Chairman had been bribing referees. He not only needed to prove his worth to ZLC, but also needed to win important matches and save the club from relegation. Camilla Curtis, a journalist working for a Sunday newspaper was on to George Livesey. She exposed him and one of the referees to disastrous effect, with life threatening consequences. The referee goes missing. Cheshire Police get involved. The fans are not happy. The players are not happy. Nobody at the football club has been paid for weeks. Amanda Lewis, General Manager was doing everything she could to keep the club afloat. Can the Town brothers keep the players motivated for one last game? George Livesey is desperate to save his personal wealth, and most importantly for him, his reputation. Just one more game - and he'll do absolutely anything. Anything.
