Just Let Go

Overview

Just Let Go is a deeply honest, soul-stirring exploration of what it means to live, love, and finally set yourself free. Through raw reflection and fierce compassion, Jamie Morrison invites readers into her journey as a Black woman navigating the weight of survival, silence, strength, and societal expectation, only to discover that true freedom lives in softness, truth, and self-belonging. From the ache between Black men and women to the quiet rituals of healing, each chapter offers language for what many of us feel but haven't been able to say. This is not a book of easy answers, it is a tender companion through the sacred unraveling of who you were taught to be and the powerful emergence of who you truly are. Just Let Go is an offering for anyone ready to stop performing strength, reclaim rest, unlearn silence, and rise rooted in love. You don't have to carry it all. You don't have to prove anything. You are already whole. This is your invitation to come home to yourself.

Author Information

Jamie 'Jai' Morrison, a certified Family Medicine Physician Assistant, hails from Dallas, Texas. Her fondness for reading blossomed when she discovered books like The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah and Flyy Girl by Omar Tyree. Reading became Jamie's solace during high school, a turbulent time when she and her siblings lived with different relatives. Motivated by her challenges and a deep desire to support others, Jamie penned her first book, 16 Years 2 Life, sharing her journey. After graduating from high school in 2003, she joined the Air Force and served for 13 years as a medical technician. Following that, she pursued a master's degree in Physician Assistant studies and has focused on primary care for the last 7 years of her military service. She completed her Doctorate in Medical Science in 2025. An inspiration to many, Jamie advocates for mental, physical, and spiritual health, wellness, reading, and writing. Her second book, Boots, Bibs, and Barbells, empowers women to pursue their aspirations and simplifies meal planning. Her current focus is on self-improvement, healing, and personal growth. When she's not writing, Jamie can be found in her garden, the gym, crafting soap, or enjoying valuable moments with her loved ones.
