OverviewJust Jack is an unbelievable story of a boy who played truant for almost one year and a girl who left school when she was 14 yrs old. Strangely it began as a love letter to my family, and a legacy for future family generations. However, somewhere along the way it became a compelling story of our shared life together, of our challenges during the pioneering edge of cardiac medicine and Echocardiography in Australia, and of our dramas and struggles while we concurrently developed a very successful thoroughbred horse stud with many successful racehorses. This book is a celebration of a remarkable and extraordinary man who lived a thousand lives in one. Your account of medical and cardiological issues is precise, as I would have expected. While that may have been my role to assess those issues I came away feeling very much more and a deeper understanding of both you and Jack. You have captured him precisely and your interweaving of his early life, horse racing, the stud development, cardiology and later cattle is very well done and an important historical document. I thought I knew him pretty well but your story adds much more and I had no idea of the relationship issues you faced. Your response to that issue was laudable and a credit to your character and I presume your religious background. You come across as a very strong, caring, loving and forgiving person and your role in Just Jack is so important because without you there would not have been the Jack we knew: The great cardiologist, caring physician, racing identity, husband, father and friend to so many. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read the book, I really enjoyed spending time with him again.
