Reviews

This is a companion volume to the recently reviewed Classic Publications Fw 190 and must rank as one of the finest books ever written on this iconic aircraft. It was unquestionably one of the most devastatingly effective and psychologically terrifying weapons ofwar ever produced. (up to 1945) The howl of its sirens striking terror into all its intended victims. It was however very poorly armed and was no match for a modern well armed fighter such as the Spitfire, seeing only limited action over England, despite its effectiveness in the English Channel. The initial chapter covers the history of the Dive Bomber with subsequent chapters covering in intimate detail Design and Construction, the Application of this weapon to the Blitzkrieg philosophy and its subsequent operation in all theatres of the European war. The large amount of detail includes engine and cockpit information, 3 view scale drawings together with many authentic Squadron markings in full colour, making this essential reading for any modeller. Historians and Aviation enthusiasts will find a wealth of detail not found in one volume, a book that will give years of fascinating reading and a reference source without equal. -- Colin Usher * Aviation Modeller International *
