"In the 1970s, Angie's sheltered, middle-class outlook is turned upside down when she falls in love with Robert, an incredibly handsome Black guitarist and brilliant, street-savvy school dropout. The pair lose touch when Angie leaves St. Louis's Northside and returns home to Germany. Twenty-five years after their turbulent romance, Angie, worldly-wise and aware of her own emotional baggage, reconnects with Robert. A.C. Mueller-Rowry, a free spirit herself, is a retired social worker, social therapist, mediator, and social scientist who has worked with migrants, unhoused people and those living with mental illness. A lifelong political activist, she co-founded the Green Party in Germany, served on her hometown's City Council and continues to advocate for social change. She lives in St. Louis, Missouri, with her black cat Primavera (a recovered trauma survivor), in close touch with nature's manifestations of her deceased husband Robert Rowry's shape-shifting spirit.
