OverviewJ.Six is the first literary treatment of the fateful events of January 6, 2021 when the Capitol insurrection occured. Rejected by various literary agents and deemed unpublishable by mainstream or university presses, this nonfiction novel is an experimental postmodern take on an event which was the catalyst for the rise of American fascism under the current Trump regime. This work is the product of nearly 4 years of countless research as well as a complement to a photo book as well as a roman fleuve in progress which is a second more extensive treatment of this unspoken event. Of this work, the author states ""Based on photographic and video footage and transcripts from the January 6th, 2021 Capitol insurrection, J.Six: History Makes a Novel / The Novel Makes a History features a collage of the voices from the Trumpists who stormed into the federal building that day. Apart from some descriptive and analytical exposition, most of the novel focuses on the distorted, fragmentary, and often contradictory voices of these problematic characters. Our range of characters include the well-known white supremacist Proud Boys to the opportunistic social media influencers who hijacked the protest methods of the BLM movement into a dystopian methodology of neo-fascist rebellion rooted in slickness and a loaf of Trumpist worship. Even though the riots lasted approximately five to six hours total, this work captures the immense complexity of a shadow world of the bourgeoisie rooted in American whiteness and patriotic cosplay. Through humorous asides and ugly mass chants, this novel does not shy away from the stark banality of evil that pervaded that day. I use bold and italics as experimental devices to suggest contrapuntal voices from the television or streaming media or historical interjections. My juxtapositions of this event with the earlier Charlottesville white power march and the murder of Heather Heyer mirror the slow dissolution of the sociopolitical fabric of the United States. Finally overtones from the collapse of Pylos around 1180 BC before the Late Bronze Age collapse becomes a parallel for the impending implosion of America into barren city-states in our future. In order to capture this surreal mix between neo-technofascist white supremacist post-truth babble and my poetic and analytical inclinations, I decided to invoke extensive collage and montage techniques combined with digital noise of peripheral language inspired by video and sound art practices.""
