Overview

This is a whimsical story about a small barn spider named JP who embarks a journey to find a new home for his growing family who are cramped under the floorboard of on old barn. Along the way he encounters two friendly creatures who decide to help him on his quest. To their surprise, they discover that they aren't alone in the barn! An artist is using the barn as his painting studio. Find out what happens when these different beings interact. Join them as they embark on a journey that no one anticipates. The results are quite surprising. No matter how small you are you can have a big impact on the world, because SPLAT! It happens!

Suzy Lorenz was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She spent her early years in Park Ridge, IL. She attended Regina Dominican High School in Wilmette, IL, and graduated from Maryville University with her BFA degree in St. Louis, Missouri. She received her teaching degree and certification from the National College of Education at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. It was at Maryville University, that she committed her life to be an artist and art educator. She enjoyed teaching numerous age levels and completed her teaching career at Visitation Academy in St. Louis. Suzy has participated in various art events and produced wall murals for businesses across the Midwest. She has created illustrations for books such as: ""Rose Philippine Duchesne: Pioneer Saint,"" written by Susan Scarpinato and illustrated by Susan Lorenz. This children's coloring book covers Philippine's life and challenges. ""Julianne's Big Move,"" written by Dede Peterson and illustrated by Suzy Lorenz. This book is for military children and the challenges they face with frequent moves. ""JP The Speckled Spider,"" written and illustrated by Suzy Lorenz. This story explores the quest for inspiration we all need to get started on something new. I hope this story will be the first in a series for young children to introduce them to the challenges of famous artists. Suzy lives in St. Louis, Missouri with her husband Dr. Michael Lorenz, and enjoys adventures with her amazing four children, and six grandchildren.
