Overview

Reconciliation is one of the most beautiful and life-changing gifts that Jesus offers us. Reconciliation more commonly known as confession is also one of the most misunderstood. In this accessible, user-friendly workbook, author Hillary D. Raining provides compelling evidence of transformation for individuals and communities who embrace reconciliation as a spiritual practice. Joy in Confession combines art therapy, scholarship, theology, and worship to create a powerful experience for learning about confession in the Episcopal Church. The Rite of Reconciliation holds a key to grace and an invitation from God to live with joy as a people of a resurrected hope if we would but answer the call.

Reviews

Reading Joy in Confession with a group of parishioners during Lent was a rich experience for all of as we delved into the history and theology of confession and then into our need for confession and reconciliation. A number of those who participated in the group availed themselves of the sacrament during Holy Week. I'm sure I will use this book again, both in a book group and as the basis for a retreat. -The Rev. E. Suzanne Wille, The Episcopal Church of All Saints, Indianapolis, Indiana
