OverviewJourney to Nampara is the real story of a slice of our life: how austerity, Brexit and an autism diagnosis for my husband drove us to leave our home in North Yorkshire for France's Middle-Earth. It is a very personal memoir which describes with humour and emotion the search for a new life, a region to settle in and a property we could afford to buy. It shows the challenges of such a momentous change of life, of forging a new future, having burnt bridges and left behind families, friends and careers and doing it all in our late fifties and on a very small budget. It charts, with anecdotes, a couple of years of an amazing adventure: the people we met on the way, the country we discovered (and rediscovered for my part), the strange holiday a global pandemic gave us and how we found and settled in a charming but extremely basic 19th century farmhouse in rural Creuse.
