OverviewRuth Kaufmann follows the life of her father Bertl Kaufmann, a survivor of the persecution, expulsion and extermination which Jews were subjected to during the Nazi rule. Her father never kept a physical diary, but Ruth had many discussions with him about his experiences during which the events he described came so vividly to life that to present them as contemporaneous diary entries seemed to do his memories the greatest justice. This book is an homage to a child survivor of the holocaust and is his experience in the words of the author. It is a link to those times and a witness to the impact the war had on a very brave man.
