"It begins with this verse: ""For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten Son..."" (John 3:16) Lent is a season of repentance but it's also a season of hope. It is the journey, which through our penance, leads us to Christ. It is Christ's death that leads to his resurrection and our salvation. During Lent we are expressing our willingness to journey with Christ to the cross, we are saying, I will go with you. Lent travels through the end of winter and the first stirrings of spring, a time of rebirth at the end of which we will celebrate the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Dying to self, or the physical self, passing from this world to the next. Lent is a liminal space between heaven and earth. I believe we are closer to Heaven during this season than any other time of the year. But first, we must walk with Jesus to the cross. Let us begin, and travel together.
