Excerpt from Jottings on Some of the Objects of Interest in the Stonehenge Excursion The following little work was written by my father, as a guide to an Excursion made by the members of the Wiltshire Archaeological and Natural History Society in August, 1876. It was originally intended merely for the use of members of the Society upon that occasion, subsequently, however, a limited number of copies were printed and disposed of to the public. As there have since been many enquiries for the book, I have had it reprinted, omitting allusions to the particular excursion for which it was written, with a view of rendering it, as far as possible, a guide such as may be used by those who make the Stonehenge Excursion.
