Overview

Josh and Susan Powell's tragic story began when Susan, Mormon wife of Josh and mother of their two young children, Charlie, 4 and Braden, 2, literally vanished overnight from the family home. Josh claimed that his wife went missing while he was on a late night camping trip with the boys on a very cold night. Although Josh's story was suspicious to law enforcement and they became more suspicious when they found Susan's blood stains on a couch in the home, they never officially named Josh as a suspect, nor did they ever arrest him. Even little Charlie gave some clues to the police when he described and drew a picture of he, his brother and his dad, Josh in the family minivan. When his maternal grandparents asked him why his mom wasn't in the picture, he said that she was in the trunk.
