The book contains about 25 articles by different authors - illustrated with numerous pictures and historical photos - with contributions about Joseph Anton Koch (1768 - 1839), the landscape painter of the Romantic period, who came from Tyrol and came to Rome in 1795, and about his son-in-law and also painter, Johann Michael Wittmer (1802 - 1880), from Murnau in Bavaria, about the famous architect of Rome, Gaetano Koch (1849 - 1910), grandson of Joseph Anton Koch, and many other interesting descendants of the painter. The editor of the work is a great-grandson of Joseph Anton Koch, Elmar Bordfeld from Bonn, Germany. The book is published bilingually, in Italian and German, by the publishing house L' Erma di Bretschneider, directed by Roberto Marcucci, also a member of the great family of Joseph Anton Koch's descendants.
