OverviewFollowing more than two decades of intensive activity, Jose Luis Mateo is now an architect of international repute. During the 1980s, he was primarily active in Catalonya, where he was Director of the magazine ""Quaderns"", but over the last 15 years Mateo's work as both architect and lecturer at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich has received due recognition after he won several formidable competitions in Paris, The Hague, Barcelona, Haarlem, Chemnitz and Basle. This monograph is the most comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of his work and encompasses 23 of his most important projects - from urban development in Ullastret and his project for the Paris zoo, to the most recent buildings in Chemnitz and Basle, clearly showing the focus of his interests and the framework within which Mateo works. An important contribution to the interpretation of his work is undoubtedly the interview with Philip Ursprung.
