Overview

Rado's Press is a nonprofit imprint dedicated to supporting shelter animals in need. All proceeds from the sale of this book benefit Operation Kindness, a 501(c) nonprofit lifesaving animal shelter in North Texas. By purchasing this book, you are helping provide care, shelter, and hope to animals in need. ""This book turns compassion into action by directly supporting lifesaving rescue work and shining a spotlight on the impact shelters can have when communities partner with and support them. We are proud to support a story that helps animals find homes and helps young readers understand the power of caring for others.""--Ed Jamison, CEO, Operation Kindness Humane Society Not All Dogs Have What It Takes to Become a Tornado Dog JoJo wasn't always JoJo-and he wasn't always a Tornado Dog. First, he was Joey, the Australian cattle dog whom his family, the Bañueloses-and especially their daughter, Olivia-loved ever so much. Joey had everything he needed: delicious food scraps, the freedom to play outdoors, and a nice, safe roof over his head-that is, until a nasty tornado swept through the neighborhood and flung his house straight into the skies of Georgia. After fruitlessly searching for his family, Joey is discovered by a dogcatcher and taken to an animal shelter where he meets the lovely caretaker Camila. It's this fateful encounter that links JoJo with the Underhound Railroad and lays the path for his journeys across the United States as he whirls like a tornado between owners and families of different backgrounds, escapes more death-defying encounters, accomplishes heroic deeds, and embarks on joyful adventures. Follow JoJo the Tornado Dog as he discovers what it means not only to be cared for, but to care so much for all the world around him.

Reviews

""One of the most important tasks animal rescuers have is to educate young people on how to be loving and responsible pet parents, in hopes they, one day, can help to effect change. JoJo the Tornado Dog is here to teach young readers that animals in our shelters are not throwaways, but have their own stories and lives to share. . . . In rescue, [while] we focus on saving the animal, a lot of the time we are also impacting the lives of the adopters as well."" --LuAnn Farrell, Co-Founder of Angels Among Us Pet Rescue (Angels Rescue) ""JoJo the Tornado Dog is an enjoyable read . . . a perfect educational tool for middle school children who want to learn more about animals and what goes on in the shelters."" --Bill Crowe, Executive Director of Pet Care Foundation ""Michael Sampson has crafted a heartwarming tale of love, adventure, and devotion. Jojo is a pup you won't soon forget!"" --Bobbie Pyron, Award-winning author of A Dog's Way Home
