Overview

Nowadays, many traffic engineers are faced with the challenge of maintaining roads in a durable and high-quality condition.There is a great need for maintenance measures, and the costs of repairing damaged asphalt roads increase with the age of the road. One durable option for renovating damaged asphalt roads is to overlay them with rolled concrete using the whitetopping method. This paper provides an overview of the technical properties and requirements, concrete composition, areas of application, installation methods and joint formation of concrete pavements in conventional construction, whitetopping construction and rolled concrete construction. This paper can serve as a good basis for future research on the dimensioning and optimisation of the installation method for rolled concrete pavements.
