Not a word from Bismarck has reached Paris to-day, but the King of the Belgians, who is at Berlin, telegraphed that he found a disposition to receive favourably des propositions acceptaoles. It is also said on some positive authority that the Prussians have begun to remove their cannon from Luxemburg, and have made no attempt to repair the fortifications, which they would almost certainly do if they expected to have to defend the place. Slight as the news is, therefore, it is, as far as it goes, favourable, and we ought to press more and more upon Prussia that she should put the matter in the hands of her friends, and be guided by their advice. The French profess to be very grateful for our bons offices hitherto, and if we could prevent a war which looked so imminent we should gain almost as much glory as if we had been engaged in it and so brought it to a satisfactory conclusion.
