Author Information

Tommy Doyle is a senior Illustrator and graphic designer based in Melbourne, Australia. Originally from Montreal, Qc Canada, he relocated down under back in 2007. He has worked in the industry for over 20 years. Illustration is a big passion and finds that it is an effective and creative way to communicate a message or an emotion. His work is bold and rich in simplicity. Hello. I'm Takako (tàh-kah-koh) Fisher, an illustrator who love baby animals - especially the ones in overalls and rain boots! After I graduated from Harding University with a BFA in Graphic Design, I became an advertising art director/designer. When my son was born, I started reading picture books to him everyday. It didn't take long for me to realize how much I loved picture books. I loved Frog and Toad books when I was growing up, and they are still my favorite today. I adore their friendship and cool outfits. My son is older now, and we don't read together any more. But my love for picture books keeps growing. Bao Luu was born and raised in Vietnam. He wanted to become an artist when he was a child. He drew a lot of Pokemon, cartoons, and manga characters. When he was in high school, he started to paint watercolor illustrations. He also taught himself digital drawing by watching tutorials and famous artists' work to see how they used color and light. By observing everything in life to get ideas, he combines different things to create his illustrations. Bao believes in saving the environment. He always carries his own water bottles and grocery bags instead of using plastic. He has recently illustrated a book called Earth Hour by Nanette Heffernan through Charlesbridge Publishing about the worldwide celebration of Earth Hour, when everyone turns off non-essential electric lights to save precious energy resources. Yi-Hsuan Wu was born in Taiwan and has been drawing for as long as she can remember. She studied visual communication design at National Taiwan University of Arts and started her journey of becoming a children's book illustrator after graduating. In her spare time, Yi-Hsuan enjoys going on adventures with her pet birds. Jack Redwing believes in letting children get dirty, dusty, and sweaty outside. He knows that kids who love nature will probably grow up to be adults who love and care about nature. When Jack isn't writing books about farms and forests, he's living his dream on a small farm in Vermont where he's raising four children, seven cows, two llamas, and a whole bunch of chickens. (psssst! Jack Redwing is actually a pen name for the Cottage Door Press team who worked on this book.) Cottage Door Press is an independent publisher of high-quality children's books. Our books are designed to spark curiosity in the littlest readers and fan the flames of lifelong learning. We understand children deserve our respect. That's why we always select artwork and stories that encourage caregivers to ""read up"" to their little ones--exploring interests together, learning together, and giving their young minds room to grow. We also believe in creating stories that reflect the boundless possibilities of all children. We hope to create books that inspire little ones to connect, encourage them to dream, give them cause to celebrate, and allow them to see themselves beautifully reflected in the stories they read. To bring these beautiful stories to life, our diverse and talented staff collaborates with authors and illustrators from all backgrounds and nationalities. We have also partnered with multicultural brands and literacy organizations to make sure our books reflect and reach as many little ones as possible.
