Author Information

Bao Luu was born and raised in Vietnam. He wanted to become an artist when he was a child. He drew a lot of Pokemon, cartoons, and manga characters. When he was in high school, he started to paint watercolor illustrations. He also taught himself digital drawing by watching tutorials and famous artists' work to see how they used color and light. By observing everything in life to get ideas, he combines different things to create his illustrations. Bao believes in saving the environment. He always carries his own water bottles and grocery bags instead of using plastic. He has recently illustrated a book called Earth Hour by Nanette Heffernan through Charlesbridge Publishing about the worldwide celebration of Earth Hour, when everyone turns off non-essential electric lights to save precious energy resources. Jack Redwing believes in letting children get dirty, dusty, and sweaty outside. He knows that kids who love nature will probably grow up to be adults who love and care about nature. When Jack isn't writing books about farms and forests, he's living his dream on a small farm in Vermont where he's raising four children, seven cows, two llamas, and a whole bunch of chickens. (psssst! Jack Redwing is actually a pen name for the Cottage Door Press team who worked on this book.) Cottage Door Press is an independent publisher of high-quality children's books. Our books are designed to spark curiosity in the littlest readers and fan the flames of lifelong learning. We understand children deserve our respect. That's why we always select artwork and stories that encourage caregivers to ""read up"" to their little ones--exploring interests together, learning together, and giving their young minds room to grow. We also believe in creating stories that reflect the boundless possibilities of all children. We hope to create books that inspire little ones to connect, encourage them to dream, give them cause to celebrate, and allow them to see themselves beautifully reflected in the stories they read. To bring these beautiful stories to life, our diverse and talented staff collaborates with authors and illustrators from all backgrounds and nationalities. We have also partnered with multicultural brands and literacy organizations to make sure our books reflect and reach as many little ones as possible.
