OverviewIt would be commonplace for a children's book with Molly the duck and her little ducklings to be told in the voice of a personified character of a talking duck, but it is on the contrary in this creative story by author Karen J. Tapp. Joey the Little Duckling: The Egg Molly Left Behind reads more like a true story. It has a rather large family as the cast of the book's narrative, and only one egg, left behind by its mother duck Molly, becoming the main character. Interesting details, suck as male ducks being more colorful whereas female ducks are simply brown are explained; as female ducks can hide in fauna and nest their eggs being better camouflaged than their male counterparts. Then the mischief begins- Joey gets into all kinds of situations from swimming in an oil pan, being rough-housed by the family dog, to swimming in the toilet, and so on. Then as everyone learns to live together, Joey bonds with the dog, sleeping together as best of friends. The imagination of author Karen J. Tapp, in creating this story, is perfectly paired with her visual artistry of illustrator Karen A. Welch, to bring the story of Joey to life in the minds of all readers. The family all pitches in together raising Joey, and the story shows love and acceptance to all - parents, children, and pets. Readers will be left with an experience of adventure, humor and entertainment which will last long after the final page's ""The End.""
